I would suggest that you base your choice of hardware on these criteria:
First -- What hardware and O/S will your application run on?
Second -- If the app will run on more than one platform -- Which platform does the application vendor recommend for the way you will use the application?
Third -- If Question 2 still leaves you with more than one platform -- Which platform(s) can you support most effectively? Do you have any UNIX expertise available to you for instance?
Fourth -- If Question 2 still leaves you with more than one platform -- Which platform will give you the best performance for your money? (support considerations should be looked at here as well) Mike
