Hi there,

I have been tasked with testing out restoring our productions servers (from LTO tape) to our test environment for disaster recovery purposes.

I restored one of out Win2K3 DC's (HP DL360) onto an older server, an HP ML350

When we boot up the restored server - we get a black screen of death (yes black :o) )

It doesnt display the Windows 2003 Splash screen at all.

When we boot in Safe Mode - it stops on c:\windows\apppatch\drvmain.sdb

(we know that they use different RAID cards, but the drivers seem to be loading anyway - before we get the drvmain.sdb hang)

We have tried Fixboot and FixMBR but this doesnt help.

We know its possible to restore onto different hardware as we have recently done this at a disaster recovery testing site and it worked.

The only difference between there setup and ours is that they had all the servers in a workgroup with the LTO directly attached.

We are going from our Domain to another Domain via the network using BackupExec 10. (therefore, the target server netbios name isnt the same as the source (or conflicts will occurr), this wasnt an issue at the test centre as there was only one workgroup\domain involved with the LTO directly attached)

Any ideas where we're going wrong. Any tips!?

Many thanks!!!!
