Server Application Error 1

I got Windows XP Pro and I've installed IIS. After setting a web share for the folder containing my page I get the following error when I try to open my page:

Server Application Error
The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance.

Why do I get this and where is this event log? The same procedure works fine on Windows 2000 and it used to work fine on a previous installation of Windows XP Pro on this computer.

I don't know why you are getting this error.
I think I get a popup window when I log in to Windows with
the same message.

I do know that you can get to the Event Log by clicking -
Start / Programs / Administrative Tools / Event Viewer

There are commonly three Event Logs. Click one on the left
side and you will see messages on the right side.
Click these to read them.

Since posting my question I realised that several others experienced this problem but could not find a solution. Seems it has something to do with users and permissions but I don't know what to set. I also learned how to get to the Event viewer, but I really appreciate the fact you took the time to answer me. So a star goes to you. Thanks again!!!
