I just built Small Business Server 2003. I cannot go to microsoft.com. I could go to all the sites but not Microsoft.com. If I removed the IP addresses in forwarders, then I was able to go to Microsoft.com.
Another question is. After I removed the IP addresses from forwarders. Removed all the root hints. Renamed the cache.dns and all the sample *.dns files. I cleared DNS cache. I restarted the server and still I was able to connect to the internet. Which DNS did the server use? Root Hints suddenly came back. But I thought I removed it already. I also renamed the cache.dns file already. My tcp/IP configuration was pointing to the server as it's own DNS. Can someone tell me how DNS work along with forwarders?
