Hi All,

I am running Berbee's Informacast on a Windows 2000 server. Everytime I go to Microsoft to scan for updates I get the following error code. (0x800c0005). Microsoft suggest running :
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll
from a command line. This did not fix my problem. Any suggestions would be appreiated.

There must be a better way.

do you have a spyware remover tools? I use adaware, spybot, and the microsoft beta tool. here is a potentially helpful link:
also, if you just recently installed service pack 4, you may want to review the known issues:
good luck!!

Have Certs, Will Travel

I would try these other dll's also. I was having problems connecting on an XP machine and registering all these fixed the problem. So far from what I can tell, my problem was the PC had been hit with spyware and trojans and they had reconfigured the machine and it caused the problem.

I am pretty sure sccbase.dll isn't used in 2000, so that command will probably not work. I have included the instructions and a link to the MS page.

Resolutions
1. Register the following files
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 Softpub.dll.
Click OK.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the following files: Wintrust.dll, Initpki.dll, Dssenh.dll, Rsaenh.dll, Gpkcsp.dll, Sccbase.dll, Slbcsp.dll, Mssip32.dll, and Cryptdlg.dll.
