Serrver hangs at preparing for network connections

I have windows 2000 advance server. I used microsoft updates this morning and when I tried to restart the server it hangs at "preparing for network connections" . What should I do? It can get into safe mode.

uninstall the last patch and check event viewer - see where that gets you

What is the best way to uninstall patches. I think the patch stoped the intergrated network card.

I reinstall the network card drivers from safe mode and that seem to fix the problem, I really do not know what happen? Thanks rokitman1 for your help.
