In an attempt to rid my system of a virus, I believe I deleted some Service Registry files by mistake. There are numerous problems now and I am attempting to try to repair.

One potential solution I found was restoring the deleted files. They are still in the Recycle Bin and but when I click Restore, nothing seems to happen.

I have also tried System Restore but it says "Not able to Protect my Computer".

HELP!

My advice load in safe mode and run sfc from command prompt. Type sfc/scannow . See if that helps.

Thanks. I got an error message.

Nothing seems to work. With every solution I get there is an error message. If I could restore the deleted files it will probably be fine. Funny thing is little things dont work like being able to copy/cut/paste.

Any ideas on restoring from the Recycle Bin?

Hi,
What are the file names in the recycle bin that you believe to be the registry stuff you deleted?

Might try this:
1. have you original install CD ready...
2. start --> run
3. "type" cmd
4. "type" sfc /?
you should see...Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
