What you can try is to plug in the PCMCIA card into the SSC and power it up. Enter "Ctrl I" and once the menu pops up go to "Utilitites" and I think the next one is something like this below done from a SSC 05.00W system.

Once in this area, check if the Flash Boot version on the SSC card is the same as found on the PCMCIA card and upgrade it if it as this could be a problem with 5.5 software. You will need to reboot the system again to activate it.
