My router lost all its configurations under circumstances I do not understand. In trying to configure the router, I have failed to access seriel0.

My router is a CISCO 1601 R

The "show interface" command is only listing the ethernet port only

The "int serial0" command is retaining errors.

What does this mean??

'The "int serial0" command is retaining errors' - please explain. What kind of errors?

Chris.

Hi Chris

When I type "int serial0" whilst in configuration mode, an invalid input is detected - see below

Router(boot)(config)#int serial0
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

Router(boot)(config)#

Your router has not booted correctly which is why it's in the 'router(boot)>' mode. You will need to reload your IOS via TFTP, ensure that your config-register is 0x2102 and you should be good to go.

Chris.
