Hello,

Does anybody know if on a Cisco router, when configuring a Serial interface with PPP encapsulation, is it possible to setup the IP address of the "far end" automatically by configuring IPCP on the Cisco serial interface?

My scenario I am working on is:

Cisco router SerialX <----> Adtran 624 IAD

When going thru the configuration on the IAD, under the WAN IP configuration you can set it up for "obtain IP automatically using IPCP", versus setting it up statically. I would like to know if there is something I need to configure on the Cisco router's serial interface to do this?

Thanks,

Rainman

UnaBomber -

Thanks so much for that URL. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Here is the command I used in case anybody needs to set this up:

interface SerialX/Y
ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.252
encapsulation ppp
peer default ip address 192.168.10.2

Thanks again,

Rainman
