Dear All

I keep getting the "New Hardware Found" prompt when I plugged in my IrDA USB cable. It looking for USB-Serial COntroller but later it prompt that the Motorola Comp Modem was found and ask for the ser2pl.sys driver.

I have uninstalled the Motorola Phone Tools not long ago, and this happen after the un-installation!

Any suggestion as I am unable to get the Win XP to recognise my IrDA cable.

Many thanks in advance.

simple solution, reïnstall your 'motorola phone tools'.

Hi skaajie

That is where my problem is.... I do not have the phone tools installation disc!

Anyway, I am trying to source for one among my peers but if there are other solutions that do not require installation of phone tools then that would be best.

Thanks.

1. Click Start, Run, and type: CMD

2. At a command prompt, type the following command , and then press ENTER:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

3. Type the following command a command prompt, and then press ENTER:
start devmgmt.msc

4. Troubleshoot the devices and drivers in Device Manager. Click Show hidden devices on the View menu in Device Managers before you can see devices that are not connected to the computer.

Remove the Ghost or Phantom device entries under Ports, Modems, or anywhere else the Motorola Modem device is shown.

Hi bcastner

Had followed your steps, but still no go!
Everything I plug in the IrDA device it still show it is a Motorola Comp Modem!

Do I have to delete any .inf files or have to delete any registry entries?

Thanks.

Thank all for the helps.

I have found the required drivers at driverguide.com.

And thanks to bcastner, at least i learnt a few new DOS commands. Thanks.
