sentinel system driver

i have a windows 2000 professinal system with latest service pack 4 and norton antivirus 7.5 with latest updation patch , recently i found a software called sential system driver in my system in add/remoove program list which is not installed by me . and in my event viewer i got the following information .
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( Sentinel ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event:
what it means
is it harmful plz help me
 
There is a 'Sentinel System Driver' that is used by Rainbow Technologies to interact with a dongle security device that they sell. If this is what you are seeing, it most likely was installed with the installation of software that is or was protected by such a key. You would not have to do a separate installation.

Often, the Sentinel driver is loaded with demo versions of protected software, then not removed when the other software is removed. If you don't have a dongle, you should be able to remove it without any problem.
 
Like mhkwood, I cannot see a virus here. A simple Google search (or look in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel) can remove the software.

There are many application softwares that require this keycode/dongle for authentication.

I cannot find an abusive use of the system.
