I am not able to send mails and I need help finding out what the problem is.
I checked the /etc/hosts and did not find mailhost there.
sendmail.cf has
DSmailhost.$
I then tried to telnet to localhosts on port 25 and it gv the following
telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
could this be a firewall problem .

you can either change the value of DS (smart relay host) to your mail router, or you can set an alias for it (to mailhost.) in /etc/hosts

then start your sendmail (/etc/init.d/sendmail start)
