I am trying to send mail from my SQL server and do not want to load outlook on it to get the MAPI so I have found the following document which does exactly what I want.

The only problem is that it is not working even though the job is ending successfully but in the job history the error is saying "The SMTP server name is required and was not found in the configuration source"

Now I have put the IP address of our SMTP server in where it states so do not understand why this will not work.

Any ideas??

Did you put the SMTP server name or address in both the IIS SMTP Services setup and the stored procedure code?

I've been playing with this myself, and noticed that when I cut and paste the code from the page you mentioned, there's an extra blank in the line that specifies the SMTP server. Remove the blank and it works fine.

'Configuration.fields(" blank is here microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserver").Value'

You can also use xp_smtp_sendmail to send emails via smtp without using the sp_OA procs.
