I purchased a Dell Latitude D600 (Win XP Pro) which worked great until I got tired of seeing the log on screen. A (too) quick web search showed if I entered "userpasswords2" in the (Start/Run) Run window I would eliminate the sign on.

Initially, I though I really messed up my computer as I had to sign on as the Administrator and the original programs apparently were gone. Now just log off and sign on as User.

How do I get the computer to automatically boot/log in as "user"? Or better yet, can I convert the user programs, files to "Administrator". I am the sole user of this computer and there are no passwords required.

Sorry, problem solved for the most part. Any suggestions on where I can go for directions on eliminating some of the XP annoyances - eliminating signon screen, XP pop up messages, etc.
Thanks

This might be useful for some of the non-XP annoyances?
