Selecting values to SUM

I appear to be having problems selecting the values that I would like to sum.

The specific case is this, I have a list of attributable area codes listed, and a number of complaints per area code. I can sum closed case coutn as follows using the formula =sum(<closed case count>).
In the next column, I have a number of transactions for each area code, but using the formula =(<sales quantity>) returns the total sales quantity value for each area code against each one - i.e the same value in each area code equal to the sum of all individual areas.

Please help!

If you let your mouse pointer hover over the formulabar, BO will let you see the contexts it applies to the calculated field. Look up on the subject of applying contexts to put the correct context into the formula of the variable...
