I am having an issue with using network drives over VPN. This used to work fine with my old NT domain. I need to be able to run certain programs while connected remotely to my office. When I try to connect to one of my network drives I get a "No Logon Server" error.

Did I miss something?

TIA

Hi,

There is no remote server as such...it is a Linux VPN box.

Basically, a very simple network setup. Win2K3 Srv (DC)running DNS and DHCP in AD. Several laptop users connecting to the office via the Linux VPN. All able to run Exchange 5.5/Outlook mail with no issues but cannot see other network drives.

Thnx!

Yes. Same error. We have a number of apps that we would like to run remotely but can't because of this error.

Thnx again,

P

Maybe check your DNS settings. If the client does not point to the AD integrated DNS server them it may not be able to find a domain controller for that domain - and therefore not authenticate. Are there any ports blocked on the VPN, or is everything open? As you're not using a "true" (dedicated) firwall soluation I presume that everything is open, but it's worth checking just to rule out. Maybe some other users here can come up with some other suggestions.

Hey Gmail

No, I think DNS is fine. I point to DNS the same way as when they are connected to the network. For remote access to the Exchange server, I use the lmhosts file with an entry for the Exchange box. I tried this with the server but it failed. :(

Thnx again!
