I converted Access 2.0 to NT, but the security file is out of whack. This is a rather large data base. In 2.0 we had user groups, with various forms defined for certain levels. However, after the conversion, every user became Admin. Would anyone know how to restore user groups.

Well first of all Access is a database program and NT is an operating system. So I don't know how you converted one to the other. I guess you converted Access 2.0 to '97 or 2000.

Let us know which one and we'll help with the group thing.

DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.

I apologize for the error. The conversion was made to Acccess 97. All conversions procedures followed were taken from 'Special Editon Using Access 97' second edition by Roger Jennings and published by Que. The data base was made a few years ago by two people, and the one that created the security, no longer works with us. The only error we have had in the data base is that all users are Admin. All of the procedures are performed by macros and queries. Any thoughts and suggestions would greatly be appreciated at this point.

When you start the application, does a "logon" dialog display? If not, then the problem is probably with the "system" database.

In Access 2.0 there is a file called system.mda.

In Access 97 and 2000, the file is called system.mdw instead.

This is where your user ids and passwords are stored.

Did you convert this file as well?
Jim Conrad
jconrad3@visteon.com

The system.mda file was converted. I am begining to think we may have to make another conversion of Access 2.0 and and the system.mda file.
