Hi,

I posted a message the other day about Remote Access with an Access application and I got some great responses so I thought I'd try one more time with a related question.

My organization is planning on using a web-hosting service to web enable an order entry/scheduling system with asp and a sql database. None of the web-hosting services that we've looked at support crystal reports. So, the only suggestion we've come up with and that has been suggested to us is to connect to the sql database via an odbc connection and to run the reports in Access.

I'm wondering if anyone has any another suggestions for how to approach this. Also, is anyone aware of any security issues with this approach? We may have some accounting information that we will be keeping on the sql database. Will it be safe for us to send this internet down to our pcs? Can the information be intercepted, etc?

Thanks for any help, suggestions, etc.

I was thinking of doing something similar in that I want the user to be able to maintain the database in Access and display the data (a catalog) on the Web using ASP.

My plan is to use this product (gotomypc) for the Access client part. A fellow consultant uses it at their business and recommends the product - price is reasonable and it has security.

The use of ODBC is a preference issue, I will use ADO and make a direct connection to the Access mdb.
