Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has ran into the same situation as I? I am using BE9.0 with Symantec Corporate Edition AntiVirus and get a failed status everynight when trying to backup e-mail boxes. I am assuming that the AV has priority over a file that it is scanning or has deleted? The log in BE9.0 gives the error 'Access Denied to file ***. Top of information store...etc..' Is there anyway to configure BE to only look at mailboxes right before it is about to backup instead of at the beginning of the job--without using a cluster environment to pick up where the job failed? Any ideas would be appreciated....I'm tired of seeing red every morning! LOL [dazed]
P.S. -- I can't stop the AV at any time.

Thanks---Barny28

tomor,

Thanks for all your help. We will try the new info. on tonight's backup.[2thumbsup]

What if you don't have NAV Running on your mail server do you make these changes to the backup server. I just have Symantec Mail security running but no NAV running on the server itself.

barny28, did the exclusions fix the problem? I'm curious since I'm having the same thing after upgrading SAV to version 9.0.

Unfortunately no, these modifications didn't help with the security errors. The reason the error occurs is because the AV cleans the virus and strips the body of the message. When it does this, the backup doesn't recognize it as a message and if you try to open one of these e-mails, it displays an error. You can change the settings on the AV to auto-delete all infected e-mails, but company doesn't want to do that. If this setting was applied, I think the problem would be alleviated. Follow the links in this post if this a viable option for you. If not, we're still researching as well.

Cheers...[yinyang]
