I have a toshiba laptop with a built in SD Card reader. The driver is installed and the device enabled, but after popping in a card from a digital camera I can't find any way to transfer over the pictures (I cannot access the card). I had assumed that something would automatically pop-up and say "Hey, you've just inserted a card, what do you want to do with it", but I've got nothing.

Do I need to install any proprietary software that came with the camera, or is there something that I'm missing?

Did you try looking for a new drive letter under My Computer after the card is inserted? You should have a pleasant surprise. :)

That is what I expected XP to do, but no nice drive letter popped up.
