Hello
There is a secretary that want to call someone and BEFORE he answers to tranfer the call to the boss..I tried with the transfer button but if i press it before the answer of the caller it drops the line.Is thére any way?

Thanx in advance

That should work. transfer dial number transfer or hang up. as long as it is an internal transfer. external you may have to wait untill it starts to ring.

You want to abort the transfer and send it somewhere else instead? If so you want to hit the Drop button to cancel the transfer process, this will put the call on hold on your extension. Pick the call up and then transfer to the other user.

If that is not what you want please clarify.

I think this may be a case of secretary sets up outgoing call and then transfers this outgoing call, while still ringing, to the boss.

i.e. he is too lazy to dial for himself...

I suggest a bridged appearance key that the secretary uses to initiate the call and then the boss picks up

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Or you can have the secretary dial the first call, as its ringing she can conference in her boss. Once he is in the conference and the other call is still ringing the secretary can just hangup from the conference and the boss and the outside call are still conferenced together.

How about pressing # at the end of the dial string, to signal that dialing is finished, and then doing the transfer?

She wants to call external someone and when she hears the ring to transfer the call to her boss(reaally lazy boss MattKnight!!).Actually i dont know if you can transfer a line that is not already established, i mean she is not connected to someone to tranfer next....The opposite works really fine, call the boss first, transfer, dial the number and transfer.
Trying to take advantage of your interest can anybody answer me some other questions??
A secretary (yes she is the same) uses callback when the boss is talking on the phone.(they have only 2 call appearances and the last is reserved because they want the second caller to receive automatically a busy tone, if there is an other easier way please let me know). When the boss closes the phone it rings again,he picks up the phone, the secretarys phone rings ok? When she is absent the phone rings all the time even if the boss closes his phone.Someone has to go there and just pick up the phone to make it stop!!
In order to avoid callback is there anyway when i am talking on the phone all the other callers to receive a busy signal but to be informed with a magic way who called me?Voicemail is not an option they dont want it...

Have you tried Phone Manager lite? It's free. She can control the Boss's phone remotley and dial for him as he is obviously far too important to do that.

I've seen this a lot actually. It seems common among those who raise and supply large amounts of investment capital.

My personal favorite is when the "boss" calls the office from his cell phone and asks to be connected to someone elses cell phone. Even better is when the call drops and he calls the office to get reconnected.

You can do it with analog lines but PRI will signal that the call has not been answered and the IPO will not let you transfer the call.
Bridged appearance makes the most sense like MattKNight said

Ragnorak,

please tell me you are not serious! thats the craziest thing i have ever heard?

Wow, that guy might have been the "smart" one at one of my previous offices. Don't get me started.

As the the question at hand, bridged appearances will work real well. She can dial and hit hold. He can hit the appearance button and talk. She will need a bridged button for each of his appearances.

Another option is Park so that he can see Caller ID on Phone Manager (assuming he uses it) to talk to the right person.

Good luck,
Frank
