Where can i find methodology for installing the Second Domain controller.
Can someone give me a link in internet or to a book describing this step by step ?
Thanks.

Build the server as a member of the domain first. DCpromo it the same was that the first server was. It isn't too hard a task to do. Win2k is alot smoother that NT4 for doing such a task.

Will this server be in the same location as the first? How many users do you have on you network that will require authentication?

May be a good idea to make it a Global Catalogue server also. This may be a start for you.

Goodluck.

Yes the server will be in the same location with the first server.
The number of users is about 30 for now.

Other thinks involeved , please .

Thanks.
I give you 2 stars.

Really not a lot else involved. Once you dcpromo it into AD, it becomes another DC for your domain. If you want it to handle certain tasks, like DNS, DHCP, etc., you'll have to configure it for those tasks.

What do you want the second DC to do?

btw, you can only give one star per person per thread. ;-)

want to change my old pdc with a new one.

tried dcpromo but after supplying the username, password & domain, i have an error:

"The wizard cannot gain access to the list of domains in the forest. The error is: RPC server is unavailable."

i already started the RPC server in the services section.

Is there another way to transfer user account to another server?

Security Identifier ( SID ) will force you to reconstruct all users account. Try to reconstruct with AD scripts. No acccounts will be recognized by the new PDC. That's Microsoft law !
Good luck !
