Can someone tell me why when I use the find records function from a form, if I tell it find something in a particular field, the find function will not find records that have the particular field disabled. How can I overcome this.
I do not want to enable the field as they are set that way deliberately.

Instead of disabling the control, why not lock it? You should be able to use the find function on it.

Find doesn't work on disabled fields. One possible solution is to set the field ENABLED property to YES and set the LOCKED property and TAB STOP properties to NO. The users will not be able to update the field if it is locked and won't be able to tab to the field. They'll stil be able to click into the field but you could capture that event and move them to another field. Terry L. Broadbent

Hmm, interesting. That's what I thought but seems a silly quirk of access not to allow finding on a disabled field. I would see the point if it was hidden but.... O well

Thanks.
