Anyone have trouble searching this forum?
I cannot seem to return any results newer than 2007!
Shame, as has built into a valuable resource!

Excellent, thats what I needed!

I am looking for anyone experience severely downgraded quality of speech since upgrading to R5.

4.2 no probs
5.0 almost unusable
back to 4.2 prob goes away instantly
back up to 5.0 prob back with a vengeance!

Star for the link!

Incoming lines ISDN30
Outgoing SIP

Most handsets 5410, but 1 x 4621 and 1 x 1608

probs seem worse on IP calls, but dig users also reporting probs on ISDN and internal calls...
Trying to find a pattern to it all, whilst resiting pressure from my MD to downgrade!

Nice link Tom..:p

We also experienced bad VoIP quality in 5.0(8) after upgrading from 4.2.17.
Tried different setups but still the same thing.
We loose voip packet even with QOS on. The best setup for us is DMP off an codec settings set to G.711 also in the Telephony tab at the bottom set to G.711.

Bas, did you set the system Automatic Codec Preference ?
Maybe it has to do with that ?
I have not had any complains !

Not yet, will try it tomorrow.
That was my next try, set the Codec settings from the Telephone tab to G.711 and the User/Extension on automatic.

We don't have it all the time, on 1 call once in 5 min.

It happens to us pretty much every call.
The call will be fine for 30 seconds and then a frop out of about 2 seconds, then seems to repeat.
I will check our codec settings too.
We have G711 setas the system default but will check the rest.
Odd that we had no probs at all on 4.2 tho...

That is why i ask
The codec setting in the system is new
It could be related to that

I am not experiencing voice quality issues but...I have 40 IP phone users on a Linksys gigabit POE switch and randomly phones will lose connectivity for about 10 seconds. If a user is on a call, they lose talk path and button functionality, sometimes the conversation will come back, but most times it is lost. I was thinking it was the Linksys switch but am not so sure now. I have r5 licensing and VM, so I don't think I can scale back to a 4.2 release. Again, if I monitor a call, the r/t delay will be fine, then all of a sudden jump to 1001ms, it's always 1001ms.

This could be a port speed mimatch issue i.e when one is set to "100 full" and one is set to "Auto" although in theory they should negotiate to 100 full and stay there it is often the case they will "flap" and cause odd issues like this while re-negotiating :)
