Hi there, I have been on before trying to establish a form where I can type a name, it will search our database (table/query???), and i need the results to display on the same form I typed the name into, and into 5 text boxes.

Where I get confused is I can open the form, type the name, and it will pop up the database and just select the line of info I want.

So for each name I type, I presumable want to hit enter and have the information that goes along with the name(e-mail, address, contact...) to be on the same form but into the 5 different text boxes.

I am not too familliar with access, and I have tried the wizard in every shape and form :), just don't really know what to do from here.

Thanks in advance for the help

You want to display only one contact on this form at a time? Are all your contacts in a single table or in multiple tables?

will the old CTRL-F on a form to search work, or do you need more power?

Maybe a record locating combo box?

Hi Chaz,

I have a similar problem..
How would you implement it with more power?

Thanks.

Hi Vias.

What I usually do is create an unbound form with a couple of text boxes or combo boxes.

Then make a query that looks at my tables, and includes only records that match my unbound form.

Then, make a datasheet subform against that query, and have the after update event on my textboxes or combo boxes call a refresh on the sub form.

Gives quick and easy search powers.

Hope that helps,
ChaZ
