I get 2 errors when I try using my DELL 320SDLT drive for a full backup.

E6304 Unexpected SCSI Sense Code ==> JobID[294], Device[3], ABSL[1 0 6 0], SN[RBD37Y1816 ], CMD[ah], [SCSI Parity Error], ASC[47], ASCQ[00]

Followed by

E3719 Unable to write to media. (MEDIA=1/06/06 8:24 PM [S/N: ], EC=COMMAND ABORTED)

I dont know what is causing these errors, but it happens everytime now on backups. I contacted CA, but they say that it is a hardware failure. I don't know how to test this. Any ideas would be a help.

I should have added the details. I have a SDLT drive internal with WinXP as the OS on the machine. I also have 2 external DLT drives that work perfectly attached to the same machine. The SDLT responds fine, but gives these errors when doing a backup.

Hi,

Disable the other 2 external drives.
Perform a NTbackup to the internal drive.
see if it still fails.

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

Thanks. I set that up to run tonight. I'll let you know what happens in the morning.

My backup job did not run and the logs did not give me a reason why not. I need to see if this is the tape drive or the scsi card giving me a problem.

I agree with vschumpy for parity errors check:
termination - If terminated try a new terminator
cabling
term power

Thank you all very much. It turns out that the cable was not properly terminated. I fixed that, and the backups ran perfectly. Thanks again.
