SCSI device connected, but not ready 1

I have a old MAS90 server here that someone needs to get into. I know it worked before but I just tried to turn it on and I get this error message:
SCSI ID #0 - Seagate ST32151N Device connected, but not ready.

BIOS not installed!

then

Operating system not found

I went into the BIOS and it detects the drive...what could be wrong??

MAS90? Wasn't it scheduled for replacement with Y2K?
Your hard drive isn't coming ready, maybe not spinning. Take it all the way down and see if it spins and calibrates on the next power up.

Yes, MAS90. Can you believe it? (The clock was set back a while ago so it can be used after Y2K) It was running on Unix.I rebooted several of times but no luck. I did forget to mention that something beeps about 10 times at startup then stops beeping. I don't know where it's coming from...

You probably have lost the hard drive. Pull the covers and feel it as you power on. Should be a vibration and a whir. then 1/4 to 1/2 second later the drive should calibrate, step in then out. should sound like a muffled floppy doing a post test and a definite vibration there too.
The beeps are coming from the speaker as an error message from the scsi controller telling you it can't find a legitimate drive on the scsi string at any of the 7 ids. (at least that's what I suspect)
There is a possibility that you could break the platters loose if they are stuck. But that is better left for another post if the drive isn't spinning. Ed Fair

Thank you for your advice! I took the hard drive out and then used a different power cable and it worked!! So now it boots into MAS90 but the problem I'm having now is that about every 5 seconds, I get the following message:

Cannot open line ttyA06 No such device or address (error 6)
Cannot open line ttyA07 No such device or address (error 6)

The number changes (ex..ttyA09, ttyA15)

What does this mean and how do I get rid of it?

Answer posted in SCO forum in your other post. Unless you are planning multiple users accessing your MAS90 you can safely ignore this as it refers to missing tty ports that were removed incorrectly. You could also use custom to remove the card drivers, but without unix experience you might get yourself into more problems. Ed Fair

I think I will leave it alone as I have absolutely no experience with Unix. Is there a way to turn off the error message? The problem is that the message pops up every 5 minutes and it's hard to ignore when trying to read the screen. Thanks!
