Anyone have any idea what this means?
Is it hardware based or a coding issue with CA's SCSI commands?

this seems to be hardware based. What tape hardware are you using ??

regards

6 SDLT 220's in a Storagetek L180 library

Could be a problem caused by using tape with data written using a different block size. Try erasing the tapes.

SDLT220 Native fibre or direct SCSI (LVD) ??
Loaded the Windows drivers for the Tape Drives / Robotics ??

regards

The drives are connected via a SCSI thru a pathlight fiber switch (4 built in SCSI channels)

All windows drivers are loaded but drives are disabled in device manager as is the library.

All jobs format the tape prior to starting,
All recycled tape get formatted then erased prior to being loaded back into the library.

Granted I do not speak Pathlight but could this be a SCSI bus saturation issue? I am running full bore on all 6 drives from 6pm - 3am daily.

Thanks for all the input

Frank

I had this issue once on native fibre drives. It only started working after we uninstalled the Windows drivers and then disabled them in the Windows Device Manager.
