I just inherited a 70 computer network that is a mess
The former IT Person was under the misconception that if the computer has an XP Home sticker that he could install XPP free of charge. Now I have a mess of computers that the company wants to fix but some are legitimate so it makes that discovery processes a bit more painful
So..
I’m looking for an automated solution to find the bandit installs
I’m proficient in scripting but I don’t know what registry keys to look for

Any tips

TIA

You have to go round each computer and look at the product sticker to find out if it says "XP Home" or "XP Professional" to find out whether the license is for home or pro.

What I have done is used Keyfinder on a floppy and ran it on the machine/s in question. Save the information to the floppy with the computer name. Compare the information with the sticker but keep the floppy or copy the file to another location for storage. Could also install Advisor from on each machine and save the .html file.
