Hello,

I am trying to set my screen saver for the 3D Pipes. Every time I choose it or any of the remaining 3D choices, the system hangs and goes no further requiring a reset. All of the other choices work. Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It's almost certainly a problem with 1 of 3 things.

1) Make sure the drivers for your graphics card are bang upto date. If you are using the Windows Xp default then they are a couple of years old and there is probably an updated version. Check the manufacturers website.

2) Make sure you have the latest version of Dirext X installed (Available from the Microsoft Website). If you do have latest then reinstall.

3) It might be the Hardware acceleration problem, Right click on the Desktop (not over an icon) and select properties. Click on the Settings Tab and then click the advanced button. Select the Troubleshooting Tab and then you will see a Hardware acceleration slider bar. If you more it over to the middle (on my system 3 marks from the right) you will see that the description discusses Direct 3D acceleration. Select this and the click apply. Now restart your system and see if you can use the Screen Saver.

Hope This helps

Any feed back is appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have the latest divers for the video card, which is a Radeon 9500, and DirectX has been updated to 9.0b.

When I set the hardware acceleration to anything less than full acceleration the screen simply goes black with no hope of recovering until a reset is started.

Again I do appreciate the suggestion you offered.

Start, Run, dxdiag

You want to test the OpenGL features as this is what is used for the 3-D screensavers.
