Screen Resolution Problem

My friend installed some software on his Windows 98 computer and it changed the screen resolution. The problem is that the resolution now shows everything enlarged.

When he brings up the control panel>display>settings tab it goes off the screen. He can't move the window far enough down to access the resolution slider or OK buttons.

He tried starting in safe mode but there is only a 600 x 400 resolution option available not enough to make everything smaller.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thanks

Move the screen as far up as possible.
Use the TAB key to move around the buttons and sliders. The slider can be moved with the cursor keys.

If your friend is unable to tell when selections are active in his control panel window, they can access the pull down menu from the keyboard. Any window's pull down menu(i.e.size, move, close) can be accessed by "Alt" + "spacebar", then selecting function (i.e."S" = size) and then using the arrow keys on the keyboard to shrink the window down so that they can access all the options. Tab over to the selection and use your keyboard to operate.

Alternately, if your friend has a "Display" icon on his task bar (e.g. next to the time), hit the "Windows" + "Tab" key, to launch the taskbar, then tab over to the area where the display icon resides and arrow over to the icon.. hit enter and there are your display options on a pop up menu.

Cheers

Don't know if this will help (I'm on ME right now) but you can still try this:

DISPLAY
APPEARANCE(tab)
SCHEME (if not visible ALT+S)
(press the 'W' key twice)
(enter key)

Let me know if this works or not.

Thanks all

I'll try these and let you all know

This is by remote control because my friend is 200 miles away
