Screen font for native printer font

I'm using VFP 6 to create reports. I've used the standard Windows TrueType fonts many times - HOWEVER - in this application I'm using a native printer font (in the font list, I'm choosing a font with a little printer next to it). For this application, I'm printing on an Okidata ML 321, and printing with the native font is a jillion or so times faster (in this case, speed is very important).

Problem: The report preview font looks terrible. I mean really bad! It doesn't line up very well either. There's no way I can release the software like this.

Question: Is there a way to either get a better looking font to appear in the preview - or - preview with a truetype font and print with a printer font?

Also - They MUST be able to click the printer icon and print from the preview window.

Fool them, use two reports. One for Preview (with the fancy fonts) and one for printing.
You would have to change your preview routine a little, but feasable. Mike Gagnon

But, if he did that, how could he switch reports when the user clicks the Print button in the Preview toolbar?

Thanks! I was thinking along those lines, too.

Only problem is they have to be able to click the print button from the preview and have it spit out the report. This is a feature they specifically requested.

I wonder if the print button can be nullified or if I can add my own button to the preview window?

I'll have to check into this some more.

Anyone have any thoughts on this or on the use of printer/screen fonts?

Recreating the preview toolbar is not that difficult. I had a sample code of that a few months ago on this site.

Only problem is they have to be able to click the print button from the preview and have it spit out the report. This is a feature they specifically requested.
