Hi Guys
what is the maximum number of users you can have on an scn?
i have 3 x ipo 412 with approx 900 users
i have heard that only 500 users are supported,if this true what happens to the remaining 400 users?

Regards

Max 500 users across 32 sites with 5.0, it isn't documented what happens if you go above this and I have not done it, but not supported usually means it will work but if you have problems avaya will not help you out :)

Yes 500 users is the maximum supported number of users on an SCN.

They will still work but Avaya wont officially support it if you have issues.

We have a site with about the same number of users across 6 sites and are talking to Avaya about getting them to support it for us directly on a special basis.

I believe the supported limit will be increasing in version 6, but thats not confirmed yet.

Just make sure if you do it you are at V5 for the VM Pro. Reason being that the site with the VM (if you are doing centralized) if this is rebooted, then as it starts comms with the VM server if it has ~600+ users it will hang the VM Service on V4.

I have had unofficial confirmation that Avaya came across the same problem but have fixed in V5.

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.

Also heard the same that the limit will be raised on v6 but by how much is a mystery

If I was Avaya I would DOUBLE it, but that's just me :)

A certain "Field Trial and Evaluation Invitation" document might imply support for such and increase in SCN Users.... ;)

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.

thanks for the info guys

in your scenario you say you have about the same number of users as i anticipate and it works ok
does this mean your consoles can see upwards of the 500 users stated by avaya on the scn ?
what issues do you or any other of the tek guys know of if you exceed the stated 500 users ?

Thanks in advance

As PEP77 stated the 500 Users is a quoted supported maximum. There is no physical barrier to overcome and no mechanisms to stop you from going higher.

I can confirm that the IPO's will share a Directory of greater than 500 and this will also be seen in the Softconsoles/PM's.

We have experienced a few issues (with the SCN falling over from time to time) but I'm pretty sure this is down to the initial release of V5. The main issue is with a centralized voicemail with greater than 600 Users. This disappears with V5 though.

Hope that helps.

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.
