SCN using the internet to link sites

I have set SCNs before but they have all been using on site campus network's either fiber and or network cabling but all have been internal. I need to set up an addition to an existing SCN but the remote property is across town. What settings would I need to bring in the off site remote site into the existing SCN.

I do have the NETWORKING licenses in place for the remote property and plenty of bandwidth at both sites.

We have always used a VPN appliance between sites with a static IPs from the provider.

That's the only option that is secure and reliable.
