What should I do to make SCN calls overflow to ISDN (no link or insufficient channels)?
Is it enough using shorts like this 2XX/dial/SCN_ARS then setup the failover rules with the ARS ?
Not sure Peter, 'cause the SCN feature does not need to address via short, it pick the route up automatically, how to address it via the ARS ? (infact, it does not run, tried)
There no way really to do this.
An Extension call across the SCN is not using a short code or ARS.
If the SCN is down or all channels are busy and someone tries an extension dial across the SCN. The call fails. You could try to create a special short code to route the calls over ISDN, but I think you would be better off increasing the SCN channels if the SCN is busy. If the SCN is down because of network issues, then you need to make changes to the network so there’s a backup or redundant circuit/route to the other site.
Creat an ARS called SCN Fail or something obvious, add a shortcode/shortcodes to catch the extn number they will be dialling add the actual number that should be dialled as the tel number with the ISDN line group.
So for example
SC - 201
Feature - Dial
Tel no - 01915188008 (where this is that users DDI at site B)
That will catch an SCN call to 401 after the call initiiation timer expires on the SCN line settings
you can also create a dial-up intranet service between the sites and with ip routing you can automatically route calls through the dial up connection if the scn data line is down.
Advandage : scn features still working, more calls over a single isdn connection, all users can be called whether they have a ddi number or not.
