I am going to have a system for 50 users and need a second system in a remote site simply for resiliency in case the first site goes down.

I am going to have Agent licenses on the first as well as preferred edition license for VMPRO. The main system will be equipped with IP Phones.

What licenses will I require to duplicate to get the resiliency in place? as I do not find the knowledgebase website that clear about the licenses.

Thanks,

You do not need it as long as you do not use hotdesking and have matching extension numbers on the phones.
It will learn the licenses and remember them.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

if you want it to backup and work with your Vm you will need VM licenses on the remote system to make that work. you can have a backup VM with no licenses but in order for a second IPO to take control of it you will need that IPO to have the licenses. thats the way i understand it.

Kevin, then you misunderstood it :)
But you are not far off!
When the SCN resiliency was introduced (5.0) then you needed licenses on both systems but later this was not needed anymore (6.0 or 6.1 i think)

Are you sure? we have had some 7.0 and 8.0 systems set up with a backup voicemail server and backup IPO's and the second IPO will not take over unless we have VM pro licenses on it. some of the docs i read seemed to indicate this as well.

Here it is:

To reinforce the resilient Small Community Networking (SCN) capabilities introduced
in Release 5, VoiceMail Pro will become part of the resilience offering shortly after
Release 6.0 becomes available.
There are three configurations that will be supported:
• A single Preferred Edition (VoiceMail Pro) server provisioning a Primary &
Backup IP Office.
• Two Preferred Edition servers: Primary Preferred Edition plus Primary IP
Office with a Backup Preferred Edition & Backup IP Office.
• Multiple Preferred Edition servers: Primary Preferred Edition plus Primary IP
Office, a Backup Preferred Edition plus Backup IP Office with additional
Distributed Preferred Editions on an SCN.
Note: The first configuration was delivered in Release 5, the second and third
configurations are being delivered in Release 6.

ok thanks for the feedback...So there will be no need of an SCN license even?

Yes you do otherwise there is no SCN and no resiliency.
