I have a IP500v2 with SCN licence with VCM32 running 9.0. The IP406v2 running 4.2 with VCM10 fitted. I have managed to get the units to talk to each other - extensions on the 406 are visible on the 500 but the 500 extensions are not showing up on the IP406.
The IP500 can ring extensions on the IP406 without problem
The IP406 can ring extensions on the IP500 using a short code.

Help would be appreciated on how to map the IP500 extensions on the IP406.

Cheers

Doubt you'll be able to get that working with the releases that far apart. Best you could do is shortcode dialing between the systems without using SCN as a supplementary service on the line.

SCN will only work between 2 major releases. It's not going to work between a R9 and an R4.2.

Correction, I have it working between 2 major releases, but officially it is only 1 major release.

Thanks guys, seems that's the best I will get, two problems I need to resolve.

1. External trunk on 406 to ring extension/group on 406 and 500

2. External DDI -> Incoming Route - > Group - > Various Extensions on 406 - Caller get ring tone but none of the phones on the 406 are ringing. Call log shows call attempting and releasing every 400 milliseconds.

Cheers

Hi All,

The 406 has no extra licenses.

If I upgrade the 406 to R5 as suggested will I need to purchase any licenses.

Cheers

No licenses in the 406?

You need some sort of network licenses in the 406.

406s didn't require voice networking licences :)

To my experience if the IP500 was on build 8.x or lower it would work but not on R9, not with any release on the IP406.
Inter dailling is possible using shortcodes but mapping the directories will fail.
That is because Avaya has extended the features of a SCN and changed the way the systems communicate in R9 either to extpand the numbers of users beyond the max of 383 on a IP406 and IP500v1 and to have a more secure way of comminication.

Said that the only option left to get it going is to replace the 406 with a IP500v2 on R9+ or accept the lack of service which is given by a SCN.

I recall a licence wasn't needed between IPO400s for SCN or H323 trunks but there was an advanced networking licence - I think this was for groups and breakouts.
It seems there will always be limitations if you are using very different releases.

The advanced license was needed for version before 5.0

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks all - will try 5.0 and see if it helps.
