HI,

Hopefully someone can help with this problem. We ar running BackupExec 9.1 version 4691 with sevice pack1.

We have 6 remote agents installed and configured.

Scheduled backups fail after backing up the local server and the first remote server. On connecting to the remote second server we get the follwoing message

Backup started on 03/06/2004 at 00:16:39.
The media operation was terminated by the user.
Error reading file data.
Error reading file data.

So the first thing we try is to move this server to the bottom of the list so it is the last one backed up. This makes no difference. We still fail on connecting to the second remote server.

However, if we submit this backup to run now then everything works perfectly. Looking on Veritas'
website there is an option to cancel a scheduled job if it does not complete within "X" hours. We have turned this off and still the backup fails.

The main server is running windows 2000 server with service pack 4 and all the critical updates and service packs are applied. The remote servers are a mixture of windows 2000 server and windows 2003 Enterprise server. Again all these servers have all critical updates and service packs applied.

All servers are protected by Norton Corporate Anti Virus Version 9.1 with defenitions updated daily.

Hopefully someone has an idea on how to rectify this

hello, i am having the same EXACT problem, i wanted to know if you came to any conclusion as to what the source of the problem was/is?

Did you had updatet also the Remote Agents with the SP1? Try to create a own Backup Job for each server and let this start steb-by-step. Maybe this helps...

Just wondering if anyone ever solved this problem? I am having the exact same problem. So if anyone has any ideas please toss them out. :)

Had the same problem, with the exact same config. problem was the absense of scratch media, because it didn't refreshed the contence of the library slots. Scanning the slots after changing the tapes solved it. Before SP1 it did that automatically ... strange.
