I'm using the backup facility in Windows 2000 Server to backup the HDD to a DDS tape. It's scheduled to run at midnight every weeknight, and to overwrite the destination media if it's not a new tape.
The backup runs without any problems if a new tape is inserted. If you use a tape, which already contains data, it does not overwrite, and stops the backup from running. If I run the job manually, it overwrites the media without any problems. Why doesn't it overwrite the tape from a scheduled job?
When you insert a new tape you are automatically asked to prepare the tape for use as soon as the tape is inserted into the drive. Is there a way of making it prepare a used tape?
Any information would be gratefully received!
