I want to find a replacement for some software that I'm using with my scanner. I have to scan a large number of invoices on a daily basis and then save each page as a 100dpi .JPG.

I'm currently using Presto! PageManager v4.20 with a Fujitsu ScanPartner 620C. I've tried PageManager 7, but NewSoft changed certain things enough to make the software more annoying rather than more useful.

Can anyone recommend some software similar to the PageManager line?

Perhaps I need to make this more clear.

I have to make a .JPG of each page of each invoice that my company prints out. This could mean scanning hundreds of pages. The images need to be low resolution in order to keep the file size to a minimum. These images are then archived as well as uploaded to certain customers who ask for them.

Using MS Word would be highly impractical for this purpose. Embedding the image in a document only increases the amount of data that needs to be stored/uploaded. Also, I have no need to turn the image into editable text. I'm just making an image of a printed invoice.

I've had this on the back burner long enough and now I need to get serious about it again.

All I care about is the ability to scan lots of documents at high speed, look at them to get the invoice number, and then save the image as a small .JPG file. (I'm currently acquiring the images at 300dpi and compressing them to less than 150kb.)

I'm considering purchasing PaperPort Professional 10 from Nuance (Scansoft). Anyone have any experience with this version?

Anyone have any other product suggestions?

How about the full version of Acrobat? You can save multiple page documents as PDF files, or split them up as you need them.

I'm using .JPG images, not .PDF documents.

The main bottleneck to scanning is usually the scanner itself, not the software. You might try changing the scanning defaults to between 100 to 150 dpi, and from picture or color mode to Text mode (Black & White). This will allow the scanner to scan faster. If the invoices are in color, leave in color mode but cut the resolution back, and maybe play with the brightness & contrast controls until you have what you want and then save the settings so you can use them as defaults (and not have to set them each time).

Good Lord, people. He's asking for a new SOFTWARE solution.

Try looking at something like TeleForms.

Just my 2¢

I agree with gbaughma. Everyone wants to fix everything except what the problem is! :)

We do document and check imaging here where I work. It is part of our larger bank application. We wrote our own software to do the high speed scanning because it scans directly into our bank software. It just uses the drivers from the scanner.

Sorry I can't help you any more finding a commercial software.
