Hi,

My client's Win Me computer tries to perform a scandisk at startup EVERY TIME she turns it on, even if she shut the computer down properly. Does anyone know how to stop the scandisk from doing this? I told her to hit the cancel button when scandisk starts, but it's still annoying to her. Thanks!

From the start button, select run, and type in msconfig. go to advanced, and you will find a number of options. One of them disables the automatic scan disc function.

This can be a siginifact disk related problem. What you want to do is ghost the drive now, so if it fails, you have a copy. What I recommend is running a full scandisk, it may not complete even in safe mode. Try a 98 boot disk that has scandisk.exe on it, this may take a long time, but scandisk may need to complete to get rid of this problem.
