When Windoze crashes my PC usually on startup defaults to scan disk, it no longer does this is there something wrong with my pc ?
thanx for any reply...
rob.

I think not. I believe that Windoze just does not see the flag in the boot sector indicating an unsuccessful shutdown - because the flag ws not set at the last crash.

Under Win98 go to START>RUN and type MSCONFIG. Then go to ADVANCED and you should see something about Disable Scandisk after bad shutdown (or something like that) If it is checked uncheck it if you want scandisk to run.

You could check the setting in the configuration utility to make sure it is still set to run also. You can get there by typing msconfig in the run line or go to Accessories<System Tools<System Information<Tools<System Configuration. I think that's how it goes anyway, it's been a while since I've done it with 98. Anyway, once you have it up look under the general tab. There should be something about scandisk running after a bad shutdown, a little box you can check. Justin
