This is just an update six months later. Although Microsoft will provide support through June 2006, it is apparently limited to critical updates only. A recent patch was rated only "important" so Windows 98 and Me did not get it. The much-anticipated upcoming XP Service Pack 2 will contain many improvements in security and many other features, but probably will not update either Windows 98 or Me.

SP 2 is for XP, so of course there will not be anything in it fo 98, Me, or any other for that matter.
That is a bad comparison, as for instance an SP5 for 2000 would not do that either.

?? it'll never happen. There are too many people who don't feel the need to upgrade to XP, 2k, 2003 etc. If the version in use suits them, then they should feel free to use it.

H*ll, for that matter I have a fully functional 3.11 box running right next to me, and probiably will for many years to come. Why? ... Why not? it's more secure than other version of windows currently available.
