Is there any way to save a PowerPoint presentation as a video? I ended up exporting all of my slides as .JPGs and used Windows Movie Maker to create a video, but I was curious to know if there is a way to export it to a video format. The reason I ask is that I would like to create a VCD of the presentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

There is no "easy" way to get Powerpoint to Video.
There seems to be 2 Popular ways.

1) Use a screen capture program that will record your screen activity and save it as an AVI.

2) Hook up a VGA -> NTSC Scan converter (like TView Pro) to your monitor out put, then hook that video feed into the video in on your VCR, then take an 1/8" -> Stereo RCA cord (found anywhere from Meijer, to walmart to Radio shack), and hook that into the speaker output on the back of your computer to the audio input on the back of your VCR.

Neither one is pretty but they both work

check out this url for screen capture info:

If you have it available, you can use programs like Premier and Photoshop to create stunning slideshow presentations that export to "movie" formats. I've done many with using these programs and they always wow the recipients. The best part being that they can watch the presentation on a regular television (when movie burned to DVD)and use a DVD player or VCR for playback. The drawback here is that the end-user does not have control over the flow of the program as in a true powerpoint presentation so for lecture style presentations this is not really a great option.

just some ideas... good luck.

After creating the video with Windows Movie Maker, I tried using Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 (Video CD Creator) in an attempt to create a VCD to no avail as the error message I received stated that I needed to use an MPEG encoder that supports video CD encoding. After that I tried using the Easy CD Creator app VideoImpression to create the VCD. I haven't had any luck yet though because I don't think my CD-R is working anymore.

If you want to create a VCD, then yes you need an MPEG video file. This URL has alot of info on VCD creation and how to convert other formats to MPEG help.
