I am saving .jpg files to my desktop and I can open them fine for about a day, but when I go back the next day it shows that it is now a VBscript and I cannot open it. I had a bunch of .jpg files in 'my pictures' folder and I cannot access any of them. Is there a way to stop this madness. I do remmeber this happening after I installed the new Morpheous (music dowloading software), so I may end up removing all those files. Has anyone seen this and I really don't care for Windows ME.. thanks.
Oh yeah, the same thing happends with my .mpeg files. about 80 % of my downloaded files are now corrupt and I am unable to listen to them.. I still think it has to do with Morpheous but would like additional input. OK.. thanks again.

Actually this sounds like you have a virus on your machine. Probably VBS.Loveletter or one of its variants. I would suggest running a scan on ALL file types to see if anything is detected.

Thank you. If detected, can Anti Virus rid the virus? I will check on Wed when I am home.

I had one of those vb scripts that added script to all .html files on my harddrive.

I suggest for a good virus software, grab the free DOS version. For a virus of this nature, the virus is loaded into memory and runs continuously from there. So, get a bootable floppy from another computer, and use that to boot up the computer, then run the f-protect software.

Any anti-virus software should be able to detect and remove the virus. Depending on which virus it is you may have lost all jpg, mpg and several other types of files. After your software detects which virus it is look it up and find out specifically what files it effects.
