When I try to save my layout as a PDF, it gives me this message "to save a layout as a pdf, the current printer must be a laserwriter 7.0 or greater". What do I need to do to save as a pdf?

to create a pdf file you need a Postscript print driver. It sounds like you do not have one installed. There are two ways to create a pdf. One is to select a postscript print driver and "print" your document to a .ps file and then distill it. The other is to use an applications export pdf option. The application does the exact samething except it happens behind the scenes. The application will also create the pdf with the current distiller settings. So it may be important to check and see what distiller is set on before using export pdf. Laserwriter 7 and newer are just popular generic postscript print drivers. You should be able to download one free from somewhere on the internet.
