Can someone help asap? I have Win95 and due to temporary brain failure I opened win.ini in wordpad instead of through sysedit. Worse, I then saved it in .rft format. I'm afraid to shut down my computer! How can I correct this? Thanks for any advice.

Open the .rtf file and save it again, but now as a .txt file.

Thank you! I really appreciate your quick response. I just saved it in .txt with no problems. Shall I assume that it is now safe to shut off system and that I should not have any problems starting up again?

Open the .rtf file and save as "win.ini". Remember the filename must be between the two quotes.

rgrds
A4

Check that it is now a real text file. Then you can rename it to win.ini (if it has got the .txt file type).
