I have a DVD that does not allow the .vob file to be copied because of a crc error, but WMP plays it fine. Is there a way that I can play the video and save it simultaneously onto my hard drive?

There are various programs that will allow you to copy the film...

ie. DVD Shrink, NERO

The issue is that copies from the file on the DVD fails, so I suspect those programs won't work. WMP was the only program which would play the DVD to the end without sticking (I just tried Plato DVD to AVI converter 6 and this saved 80% of the file).

Two questions:

1.) is the DVD scratched?

2.) is this a commercial DVD? (Copyprotected which I surmise by the description given...)

Annotation: Just because WMP allowed you to play the file does not mean that others will not allow you to play it... Try VLC (Video Lan Client) as this freebee will allow you view/watch DVD/CD to almost anything out there...

Nero will copy any DVD which is NOT copyprotected! For copyprotected DVD's (Plato DVD to AVI converter 6 will not work here without help) there are other progs out there...

Hello,

Yes, the DVD is damaged, with some fine scrathces, but it is a recording of a family event which we are trying to save.

Plato is working, but only up to a point, I assume because of the damage. WMP was the only one which worked right through.
