I've run across a strange problem with Samba.
Here's the layout:[ul][li]An active directory domain with W2K3 servers as PDC and BDC.[/li][li]An XP workstation that is a member of the AD domain[/li][li]A Linux (Fedora Core 2, Samba 3.0.4) machine that is also a member of the AD domain[/li][/ul]
I am attempting to browse the Linux machine from the XP machine by going to Start/Run and entering [blue]\\machinename[/blue] in the dialog box. When I do this, a username and password box opens, and there are no credentials I can enter that will give me access to the Linux box. At the same time, the Samba log on the Linux machine reports:
[tt]smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_spnego_kerberos(174) Failed to verify incoming ticket![/tt]
Here's the fun part...
If I attempt to browse the Linux box from the XP box by entering [blue]\\x.x.x.x[/blue] (the IP of the Linux box) in the Run dialog box, I get right in and Samba reports no errors.
Also, if I attempt to browse the Linux box from an XP box that is not a part of that same AD domain, either by entering [blue]\\machinename[/blue] or [blue]\\x.x.x.x[/blue], I get a username/password dialog that works on the first try and Samba reports no errors.
Can anyone give me a handle on this one?
